Founder's Note
As the Founder and CEO of Career Focus, I want to share a little about my background and experiences and how they helped shaped our values and my commitment to this organization.
I was surrounded by a family of hard working entrepreneurs. My granddad owned a construction company and a local community grocery store. My parents successfully managed a few different business ventures and managed to overcome a number of challenges along the way. I witnessed first hand their hard work, dedication and perseverance. They inspired me to focus on running an organization with a commitment of taking care of others.
Through these experiences, I learned the importance of overcoming obstacles and the rewards that await on the other side. For a brief period and during my first couple job opportunities, my work efforts were not consistent with my upbringing and the work ethic that was instilled in me.
My father helped me to get my first job when I was 15 years old. I worked as a front desk clerk at a local hotel. In that role, I failed to realize that I was also responsible for additional work tasks at the end of my shift. My pride got in the way when I learned that I was also responsible sweeping and cleaning the front lobby areas as well. I felt insulted and was unaware that it was a shared duty and I immediately quit and found another front desk job nearby. This behavior lead me to hopping from job to job at a very early age, avoiding authority, conflict, and compromise. I was not displaying a good work ethic. I was on a path to not achieve my full potential.
This experience taught me valuable lessons about adaptability, work culture and understanding that we are not just responsible for the tasks that we prefer to do in the workplace. I have learned to excel in any job I pursue, and my family has instilled in me the value of hard work, which ultimately pays off.
As my confidence grew in the workplace, so did my passion for helping others. I began to recognize the significance of advocating for those who are often overlooked. This growing realization that I could make a change for underserved communities lead me to my passion. This has given me a strong sense of purpose, motivating me to dedicate myself to empowering others and helping them achieve their full potential.
